MULTI-YEAR ACCESSIBILITY PLAN

MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO

Unique Industries, Inc. doing business in Canada as Unique Party Favors (“Unique,” the “Company,” “we”, or “our”) is committed to ensuring equal access and participation for people with disabilities.  We are committed to treating people with disabilities in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence.

We believe in integration, and we are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner.  We will do so by removing and preventing barriers to accessibility and by meeting our accessibility requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (the “AODA”) and Ontario’s accessibility laws.

PURPOSE

This Unique Multi-Year Accessibility Plan (“Plan”) outlines the steps we are taking to meet the requirements of the AODA and to improve opportunities for people with disabilities.

 

STRATEGIES AND ACTIONS

 

  1. Customer Service

In accordance with Unique’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act Policy (the “Policy”), Unique is committed to an environment in which all persons, including those with any disability, are treated in a way that respects their independence and dignity. Unique’s actions taken include:

    • Developing the Policy, which is posted at Unique’s Brampton, Ontario facility and available upon request.
    • Providing training to employees on the Customer Service Standard requirements and how to interact with people with various disabilities.
    • Establishing a procedure to provide notice of a temporary disruption to our facilities.
    • Establishing a process through which persons can provide feedback to Unique regarding the way in which we provide goods and services to persons with disabilities.

 

  1. Information and Communication

Unique is committed to making information accessible to persons with disabilities.  Unique’s actions taken include:

    • Creating a publicly available feedback process (available in accessible formats, upon request).
    • Making required AODA documents publicly available (and available in accessible formats, upon request).

Unique’s planned actions include:

    • Consulting with persons with disabilities to determine information and communication needs.
    • Taking steps to develop and update our website to conform with WCAG 2.0 Level AA.

 

  1. Employment

 Unique is committed to fair and accessible employment practices designed to attract and retain persons with disabilities.  Unique’s actions taken include:

    • Developing and implementing a process through which employees with disabilities may obtain accommodations.
    • Providing pertinent information about accommodations for disabilities to job applicants throughout the hiring process.

Unique’s planned actions include:

    • Continuing to act in accordance with the Policy related to hiring practices and persons with disabilities.
    • Continuing to provide persons with disabilities the same career development, advancement, and opportunities as exists for all employees.

 

  1. Training

Unique is committed to training applicable employees on the AODA and Ontario’s Human Rights Code (related to persons with disabilities).  Unique’s actions taken include:

    • Developing training as described in the Policy, including, but not limited to, training on the following:
      • An overview of the AODA;
      • The specific requirements related to the Customer Service Standards;
      • A review of the Policy;
      • How to interact and communicate with people with various types of disabilities (including those people with disabilities who use an assistive device or require the assistance of a service animal or a support person);
      • How to use the equipment or devices available on-site or otherwise that may help with providing goods, services or facilities to people with disabilities; and
      • What to do if a person with a disability is having difficulty in accessing our goods, services or facilities.

Unique’s planned actions include:

    • Providing the training described above to applicable new hires as soon as practicable after their hire.
